Yuletide Ride

Cat posted a message in one of the forums we both read saying she was going to go for a ride on Christmas day, and I volunteered to join her. It wasn't to be a long ride by design, as neither of us has ridden in a while. But despite the chill and lack of condition, it was still better than nothing, which is what I've done lately. Like my last ride, we started at the Portland Park at the foot of Signal Mountain, but instead of turning off of Suck Creek Rd. and following the river, we headed on up the mountain. Not too far up the mountain, only about a mile and a quarter (which if memory serves is only about a third of the way up, maybe less), but up the mountain we went. Well, I say we, but we weren't exactly together. She's a much better rider on a much better bike, and even though she had reasons (which I won't discuss here) to be far from her normal pace, she still left me behind. I chugged on though, and waved as she started back down. Only a little less than eleven miles, but as I said, far better than zero, and good company to go along with it. I'm glad she suggested it.
